I just got home from the store and my kids were so terribly naughty. I forgot to bring the baby carrier so I ended up holding Summer in my arms while she slept and I pushed the cart with one hand. All the while Annalyn kept crying for things and throwing little tantrums. When she found out she was not going to get any gum she threw several things out of my cart. Kyla happily retrieved the stuff for me and I gave Annalyn a big hug, told her I loved her and that I hoped she would be good so she could get gum next time. She was still super mad, she told me she hates me and then pinched Kyla and made her cry. We didn't even get half of the things on my list but we made it out of there in one piece and I got diapers and milk so I call that a success. Oh kids. They are so embarrassing, funny, entertaining, difficult, and fun all at the same time. Despite how crazy and naughty they can sometimes be I love them and they do say some pretty funny stuff. Here are a few of the recent things they have said and done that make me laugh.

Brynlee got chosen as the student of the month for her last month of kindergarten. When I talked to Brynlee about it she told me, "yeah, they probably just picked me because I am the bestest kid in the whole class." Yup, I am sure that is why Bryn.
Brynlee woke up a few mornings ago and came out and laid on the couch complaining about how tired she was. "I am just really tired," she explained, "because dad woke me up last night and made me practice my hopscotching. He just really wanted me to be a good hopscotcher so he made me practice in the middle of the night." For some reason Joel doesn't remember doing that. HaHa!
Brynlee went up to my cousin from Texas and told her, "you can ride in our car cause we have air conditioning. It starts out hot at first but don't worry cause then it will cool off."
My girls all love visiting with the neighbors and giving them hugs. We were eating dinner one night when Brynlee noticed that our neighbor was walking out to check his mailbox. "Mr. Smart is outside," she exclaimed, "I am going to just go run and give him a hug real quick." I told her no cause we were eating dinner but Brynlee was already up and running to the door. "Okay! I will just yell at him from the door." I sure hope our neighbors enjoy getting yelled at from the neighbor kids.
A few months ago, right before Summer was born, Bryn got mad at all of us and put this sign on her door. It is supposed to say... "Nobody come in here. Not Anna, not dad, not mom, not Kyla Mae, not my friends, not my brand new baby, not visitors, not my best friends, not my aunts, not anyone." She is becoming a pretty good little writer.
Brynlee has finally figured out what lunch and breakfast are called. She used to call them first dinner, middle dinner, and last dinner. She was constantly asking me, "It this middle dinner or last dinner?" If I told her it was lunch she would get relieved because she still has more of the day left to play.
Brynlee was talking to one of her friends about coming over to play. She isn't supposed to invite herself over to someone else's house so I overheard her telling her friend, "You probably don't want to come to my house. We have too many rules."
Brynlee really wanted to play at a friend's house and when I told her it was not going to happen today she threw a huge fit and started crying and yelling. I told he she would never be allowed to go to someone's house if she acted like this. Brynlee stopped crying to tell me, "I would never act like this at their house. I would be waaay to embarrassed." I am so glad she saves her worst behavior for me.
We were talking about what to name Summer a few weeks before she was born and Brynlee kept coming up with all kinds of suggestions. Her favorite name that Brynlee really wanted to name her was Tink. She really lobbied for that name. I told Brynlee she should just change her name to Tink and then we could call the new baby Brynlee. Bryn really liked that idea so for the rest of the day she had everyone call her Tink.

The girls and I drove to aunt Joanna's house one day and when we arrived at her house Brynlee started panicking. "Help mom!," She cried. "I can't get this bead out of my nose." I was pretty confused about what she was talking about. Apparently she found a bead from one of her necklaces that broke and she decided to stick the bead up her nose. I guess it seemed like a good idea at the time. I tried to get Brynlee to blow the bead out but she just started to suck it in so I figured I had better find some tweezers or something. I sent Telissa in the house and aunt Rachel came out with some tweezers and was able to get that bead out of there. Thank goodness it came out pretty easily.
Brynlee has been trying to convince Annalyn that she needs to cut her hair. She gave Anna a few different choices of how she should cut it. "come on Anna. How do you want to cut you hair? You can do an A-line, a circle, a triangle, or a square. Which one do you want?" I keep trying to imagine Annalyn's hair cut in a triangle shape and I just don't think it would work very well.
I took Brynlee in for her six year old check-up and Brynlee's doctor looked at Brynlee and said, "are you really six already? When did this happen?" Brynlee was quick to respond, "June 14."

At that same check-up all of my kids had to get flu shots or as Annalyn kept calling them "flea shots." Brynlee and Annalyn were both panicking about it so Kyla went first and was awesome. She only cried for like a second and then happily sucked on her sucker. I thought my other girls would go after seeing Kyla do it but neither would budge. Annalyn tried to kick the nurse when we gave her the flu shot and I could not hold her down. At that point I decided I was done and was just going to skip getting flu shots this year. The nurse left so I could think about it and then the girls' doctor came in with the nurse and helped me hold Annalyn down so she could get her shot. That kid screamed so loud through the whole thing and didn't even realize that it was over until we told her. As soon as she realized she got down and asked for her sucker. Despite how easy her sisters made the whole thing look, Brynlee wanted no part in it. She was having a major anxiety attack about the whole thing. We held her down and she was tensed up with her hands over her eyes. She didn't even realize the shot was over either until we told her. Then she jumped down, looked at all of us and said, "Oh. I didn't know it wasn't going to hurt." She happily skipped out of there and didn't look back. She was pretty proud of herself for not even crying during the shot. She cried plenty before she got it. I think the whole event was most traumatizing for me. Before we left Annalyn asked me if she could, "run and give the girl who shot us a big hug." Her and Kyla left that lady with a big hug and a smile and wave goodbye.
It seems like no matter how many times I talk to my kids about appropriate comments to make and questions to ask they just don't get it. We are going to need another talk cause just last night Brynlee went up to our new neighbors and said, "wow! Your garage is sure pretty messy." She asked a mom that was holding a cute little baby why her baby was wearing pajamas and when the mom said it was so the baby would be comfortable Bryn just looked at her and said, "Oh," in a not so friendly way. Annalyn is getting just as bad as Brynlee.
Last time I took the baby in for her check-up Annalyn noticed a lady out in the waiting room that was walking with a limp. Anna pointed at her (with her middle finger. We are still working on that.) and asked me, with her really loud voice, "Mom look at that lady. Why is she walking like that? See she is walking like this." Annalyn then proceeded to limp and hunch over dramatically doing a pretty good imitation of that poor lady. I told her I didn't know what was wrong but that since we were at the doctors office that was probably why she was here. Anna then waved at the lady and asked her, "Hi, hey why are you here?" I would have loved to have stayed and talked to her but that's when the elevator came so I hurriedly stuck all of my kids on there and away we went.
Annalyn is terrible at keeping secrets. We talked about the name Summer for our new baby for several months and Annalyn really wanted that to be the babies name. We kept telling her not to tell anyone the name but every single person that asked what the babies name was going to be or if they asked her what she wanted to name the baby, Anna would tell them. She still can't make the s sound though so she would tell them we were going to name the baby "Tummer." A few people were able to make out what she meant and if they did I would remind Anna not to tell people and she would promise not to tell anyone else. She told my sister Alesha and told me that was alright because, "it's just Alesha."
After Summer was born Anna decided to help me out by changing Kyla's diaper. Kyla laid right down for Anna but Annalyn had a real struggle getting that diaper on Kyla. She had it all mixed up and turned around. After struggling with the diaper for a while Anna stood up and cried out; "this diaper is so stupid. It's just not working out!"
Annalyn was holding the baby just a few days after she was born when all of a sudden Summer sneezed all over Anna. Annalyn gasped in excitement and exclaimed, "The baby just sneezed on me! I can't believe it. This is her first time sneezing on me!"
The girls and I were over at my grandma's picking raspberries one day when a lady walked past. Brynlee waved at her and offered her some raspberries which she politely declined. That's when Annalyn yelled to her, "Hey, you know you are walking in the road." The lady nodded and told Anna she knew. Anna continued talking to her, "Well, you better watch out. I don't want you to get hit by a car."
At Anna's four year old check up her pediatrician asked Anna if she drank all of her milk and Anna told her, "yeah, but I don't drink milk from my mommy's tummy."
Annalyn was talking to my cousin and was telling her how much she missed our old house. "I just really miss that house so so much cause we could eat on the carpet in that house."
Later Anna told me, "I wish we lived in our old house still cause you and dad were never mean in our old house. You were always nice to me and let me do what I wanted."
Annalyn asked for an egg sandwich for lunch one day but then requested hers without any eggs. "If you don't want eggs on it then what do you want?" I asked.
"I just want butter and bread." Yeah that sounds like a yummy way to have an egg sandwich.
Annalyn came up to me one day and said, "mom I just peed in my panties cause I just couldn't hold it any longer." I told her she had better go change her panties and she didn't want to. That's Anna for you.
I sent Annalyn to her room the other day and I instructed her to get her shoes on so we could leave for speech. She came back out with a pink ballet leotard and some green flip flops. Apparently those were ballet flip flops and since they were the only shoes she could find she had to change so that her clothes would match. She has worn some pretty interesting outfits lately.
Annalyn went up to her dad one day right after he got home from work and she smelled his shirt and told him he stank. Joel told her not to smell him cause he hadn't taken a shower yet. As soon as Joel was done with his shower Annalyn ran over and asked her dad if she could smell him now.
Last time we were in a public restroom at church Annalyn kept calling out to me. "Mom, my poop is green! I don't know what is wrong. You better come in here and look at it." I told her she probably just ate something that was green and that it was normal and she called out, "no, I only ate a hot dog and pudding. Those are not green." I told her it could have been from a while ago. "Oh, green beans!" she shouted out.
There is a new house being put up right next to us and the construction workers are usually out there bright and early so we walk past them two times a day when we go to get Brynlee on and off the bus. They have gotten to witness Annalyn having a meltdown about something several time on the way to school in the morning. My girls always say hi and wave to everyone there. Annalyn has cautioned them to be careful when they are up on ladders and told them she didn't know if they should climb up there because it looked too high. One afternoon as we were on our way to get Brynlee off the bus; Anna and Kyla said hi to all of the workers. There was one guy who was working without his shirt on, it was a hot day, and he had several tattoos all over. Annalyn is really loud when she talks and this is what she said to me while pointing at that guy. "Look at that guy mom! He is naked. He is just wearing markers and boobies. That's called privacy right. We better not look at him."
Kyla is constantly saying these little phrases that make me laugh. As soon as she wakes up she calls out "I is awake. I is awake mom." She refers to Brynlee and Annalyn as "my girls" and is constantly telling me what her girls are doing or where they are at. When I ask her how much juice or something she wants she likes to tell me "I just want yots (lots)! Yots and Yots." When she carries something that is heavy she will tell me, "dis is heaby. Dis is so heaby!" When I ask her to do things for me she will often tell me, "I'm busy." Before she was potty trained she kept asking to go potty every time one of her sisters went. Even though she had a diaper on and would not actually go potty she would hold her diaper and tell me, "I need to go potty mom. I just can't hold it much longer."

Potty training miss Kyla has actually not been to bad. Once I bribed her with gum she started going to the bathroom all the time but she still has the occasional accidents. It is always fun hanging out in the bathroom with a toddler. A while ago she really wanted some gum so she called me in the bathroom and told me, "I can't get my poop out. It's just not coming out. Will you get it out for me?" Another day I went into the bathroom and the floor was all wet. Kyla was with me and I wondered out loud why the floor was all wet. "I peed on the floor," she told me. I didn't believe her and said
"No. Where did this come from?"
Kyla just looked at me and said, "It came out of my buuuum."
I was reading a book on my ipad one night and I had my glasses on. I haven't worn then very much so when Kyla walked in and saw me she came up to me and asked, "why you look funny mom? Why you look funny?" That's a great question Kyla.
I was getting Kyla dressed and talking to her when she told me, "I lub to be naked. I lub it so much."
Kyla has also been a little trouble maker lately. She still climbs on everything and likes to get into stuff. One day she got into the purple sprinkles and got them everywhere. Her hands were completely purple. Another day I walked into my bedroom and I heard a little voice in my bedroom call out. "I don't want you to come in here!" She had my mascera and she was using it to give her baby doll some hair.

Joel always tells the girls they should only kiss someone on the lips when they are married. We were at church last week and Kyla went up to Annalyn and said "Anna, let's kiss on da lips." She then gave Annalyn a giant kiss on the lips and loudly exclaimed, "We is married! We is married Annayn!"
Kyla handed my mom a sharp knife that she found sitting on the table one day and told her, "Dis knife is too sharp. I can't hab it!"
"What happened to your eyes Kyla?"
"Dey is back!"
"Did you get into my make-up again?"
"Yeah! I is bootiful!"
Yes, life can be pretty crazy sometimes but when you have four little girls it is always entertaining. Just last week I walked out of my newly cleaned bathroom and I discovered Annalyn and Kyla happily sitting at the kitchen counters (that I had just washed off) enjoying some oatmeal that they got all over the place. Despite all the craziness of life I sure do love my little family and I am glad I get to spend my days with them.
