May 2018

May was a super busy month. There were so many school things going on and the sun stayed out so late that no one wanted to go to bed when bedtime rolled around. We spent a lot of time outside enjoying the nice weather. We went to the park several times, the kids ran through the sprinklers whenever they could, and we even set up the little pool in the backyard so the kids could go swimming. We helped grandma some more with her garden. We got all the plastic put in between the rows and we planted corn and okra. We tried to transplant some trees in our backyard but they both died.
We started off the month of May with Summer's two year old check-up. The pediatrician we had used forever retired so we had to see a new doctor. Then we babysat some boys from our ward. Later that month we also babysat Remi and a few other kids. We had our last music class at the library later that week. I lost my teaching partner at church so I had to teach for the whole month. Joel just came in and helped me.

Brynlee came home from school one day carrying a little baby bird in her arms. Apparently she found it on the walk home from the bus and brought it home so she could rescue it. It was a little Kill Deer and after a while we could see it's mom frantically outside making sounds across the street. It took a lot for me to get my kids to leave the bird alone so it could go back to it's mom. They all wanted to keep it as a pet.

Joel started to build a shed in our backyard. The kids all had fun helping him with that project. They really got into the painting part of it. Joel had the whole thing up and mostly done in just a few weeks.

Brynlee had two different field trips that she got to go on this month. The first one was to the High School were they put on a pretty neat Ag Fair. The kids got to see and touch several animals, we went on a hayride, and got to plant a pumpkin. It was a fun trip to go on with her. I volunteered in her second grade class for the last time this year and drove her on her walking field trip. She gave an animal presentation about Jelly Fish another day and I went to that. She had several other fun things and events at school this year but I didn't go to anymore of them. She got to celebrate her summer birthday one day so I sent donuts to school with her.
My sister Alesha invited us over twice for a barbecue this month. The first time it was just with my family but the second time they invited Chase's family as well and they did a big gender reveal so everyone could find out the gender of their baby. It looks like they are having a little boy. We ended up going to another barbecue the next night for our niece Tinsley who just graduated from high school. Then on Monday we had another barbecue this time at grandma's house for Memorial Day. Good thing we all like a good hamburger and hot dogs.
By the end of this month I was 26 weeks pregnant. I had to go in to the doctor and do the one hour glucose test which I later found out that I failed. I still haven't taken the three hour test yet. Brynlee broke her foot so I got to spend some time at the ER and the doctor's office with her. We went on a fun family trip and celebrated Mother's Day by visiting our mothers and bringing them gifts. Our trip to Utah was my gift. I went out to lunch with some friends one day and my friend Eugenia came with her family and stayed the night another day this month. They were on their way to a family vacation and it was fun to have them stay the night on the way to their destination. They came the last night of the month and stayed the night again on their way home. The last day of the month was also the last day of school for Annalyn.
The kids played hard, we went and visited all the family that lives close, we played outside and enjoyed lots of time with each other. Kyla and Summer played baby several times. Brynlee did not let her broken leg stop her from swinging on the swings, we looked at the ducks at the park, and built sandcastles in our backyard. It was a fun month!

A Year of School and Crafts

School is officially done for the school year and our summer vacation is in full swing. Annalyn ended the year with a kindergarten graduation full of singing from her small class of cute kindergartners. (She ended the year with only 13 kids in her class.) They also gave out some awards and we all got to watch them sing and have snacks. Annalyn loved school this year and sang those songs with a lot of joy and enthusiasm. She gave herself an award for learning how to do math and she earned the PE award for doing the most curl-up in a minute out of all the girls in her grade. She did 35 which I thought was pretty impressive. She demonstrated how well she can do them and she is good at those. She loved school this year and learned so much. She loved her teacher, Mrs. Hubbard and will miss her a lot. It was nice that her class was so small. She knows all of her letters, sounds and most of her sight words so she is right on track with where she needs to be. She passed on to first grade with flying colors. I am glad she enjoyed school and had a fun and positive start to school.
Annalyn loves to color and do crafts and is pretty good at them. I am going to include some sample of her craft projects from the year. Because she just went to school every other day a lot of these things were done at the library and a few were done at home but there are several things from school. She has the neatest handwriting for her age. It has gotten better and better throughout the year. I am proud of her and all she is learning.
Brynlee had to go to school for another half a day after Annalyn had finished. We met her at the bus stop with a bunch of other mom's that had silly string and water guns and they attacked the kids when they got off the bus. Brynlee didn't want anything to do with that. She was pretty bummed to have to start the summer with a broken foot.

Brynlee also had a small class this year too. For a few months there were only 17 kids in her class. She is such a fast reader and she can pick up on things pretty quickly. She did really well in school and liked her teacher, Mrs. Ferdinand a lot. She had a great class and made a lot of great friends. She has grown so much a learned a lot this year.
Brynlee got to do several crafts and projects this year which is something she loves. She also draws a lot in her spare time at home. I am including a bunch of samples of her work below. She is becoming a pretty good little artist. I love reading the stories she writes.
Kyla didn't get to go to school this year but we did lots of crafts at the library and a few at home so I am going to include a few samples of her work. She is getting pretty good at coloring in the lines. She is working on writing her name but struggles with the K. It is her most favorite letter and she likes to tell everyone when she sees a K. My mom is doing a preschool next year so she is pretty excited about getting to go to preschool with her grandma next year.
Summer loves to do whatever the big kids do and is actually starting to color a little bit so I will finish this posts with a few crafts from her. She loves to glue things but then will usually tear off everything she glued a few minutes later so a lot of her crafts come home destroyed. I was able to save a few of them.
