Summer loves to play outside but is still scared of dogs and loud sounds. She doesn't like airplanes or loud cars and dog barking. When she hears those sounds she usually says "scared," folds her arms around herself, and grab onto me for dear life. She still likes to play outside but is pretty cautious and comes running when she hears those scary sounds. She surprised me by actually loving my parent's chickens the other day. She was terrified of the cows but wanted in the chicken coop so badly. They have a pretty aggressive rooster that was pecking at the cage so I didn't want her to go in there but she insisted on helping me get the eggs. She ended up throwing the egg at the chicken but I was proud that she was brave and went right in there. She refused to call them anything but a "Bak bak" and gets excited every time she finds a book with a picture of a chicken on it.
Summer loves to eat but has been super picky lately. She loves peanut butter and anything sweet. She likes bananas but mostly because she likes to open all the peels and smoosh them between her fingers. She loves applesauce and candy. She loves yogurt and cheese and is constantly asking for cheese from the fridge. As soon as I give her some she almost always requests "ceese Ky-yu" and then she takes a piece to Kyla. Usually Kyla doesn't want the cheese but Summer just gives it to her anyways. Summer thinks she is too big for her high chair and insists on sitting at the table with the rest of us.
Summer is finally talking a bit more and can use full 3-4 word sentences when she wants to. Most of the time she prefers to point and just answer "yes or no" questions. Sometime she just nods and I can't even get her to say the word yes. She understands things pretty well and has a great understanding of words and what people are saying. She is a pretty stubborn kid so it has to be her idea but she is often surprising me by actually talking in a full sentence. We have been trying to get her to say and point to all of her body parts but usually she won't participate in that activity. She surprised me the other day by how many body parts she could actually identify. She knows a lot of them. She loves it when we sing songs to her and read her books but she gets bored of the book after a while so she rarely sits for the whole book. Summer will sit and listen to grandma Verna read to her for hours. She can be hard to understand but we all know what she is saying. Some of her favorite words are, "no" "mine" "baby" "Owie" "sue (for soother and shoe)" "cold" "poddy (potty)" "teese (for teeth. Summer loves to brush her teeth.) "peas (please)"

Summer learned how to climb out of her crib back in December and nap time has not been the same since. She used to sleep so well in the day and would spend most of the night in her bed. Now naps are a hit or miss and bedtime is mostly spent in bed with us. We had to take the rail off of her bed so she didn't hurt herself and ever since then she will not stay in there. She loves the freedom of being able to come in and out of her bedroom whenever she wants and takes full advantage of it. She fell out of bed a few times before we put the guard rail up but now that the rail is on she will not fall asleep in her bed at all. She has to be super tired and even then she fights her naps so hard that she often skips them completely and is tired, miserable, and whiny all day. If she does take a nap it is usually taken in mom and dad's bed. She will sometimes stay in there, she won't stay in her bed.
Summer is still super sweet and gives the best hugs. If she sees someone that looks sad she is sure to give them a good heart melting hug. She just melts right into your arms when you pick her up. She will go to most people but she has a few favorites that she always seeks out and gets a hug from. Summer loves babies. She likes to take care of and mother any little baby that she sees. She also loves baby dolls and likes to cover them up in blankets. She likes to sit on the potty chair and play with the toilet paper after every diaper change. She doesn't usually go but she always tells me that she has to go and runs for the bathroom. She has a beautiful smile and she light up our home with her sweet personality. She may be stubborn and she makes the worst messes but she is a pretty great kid.
