camping

Since my brother Josh is getting ready to leave for the next few months my dad decided to plan a family trip up to a cabin that someone from work let him borrow and he invited the whole family to come. My sister Heather had to work that week but the rest of us all went up. The cabin wasn't big enough for all of us so we decided to stay out in a tent with our family. The girls and I checked out several books on tape for the car ride there. We left on Friday around 2 right when Joel got home from work. It was a three hour ride there and Summer and Kyla slept for most of the ride, Anna took a little nap and Brynlee enjoyed the book with us. Books on tape are the best way to travel with lots of kids.
This time we went up to Riggins, Idaho and it was a beautiful area. My parents were just getting ready to make dinner when we got there. They had hot dogs covered in bacon stuffed with cheese and they were pretty yummy. We had smores and cake for dessert and then we watched a movie outside on my brother Josh's projector. We set up the tent and then went to bed when the kids did. Everyone slept pretty well. I ended up with Kyla and Annalyn both sleeping on the small twin sized air mattress I was sleeping on so I snuck out and moved onto the full sized mattress they were going to share together. I slept much better after that.
The next morning my dad made a delicious breakfast that we all enjoyed. Then we loaded up lunch and started up the mountains to find some little lakes. We went almost to the top of the mountain before we found out that the roads were covered in snow and there was no way to pass through. We did get out and admire the view while we were there.

The river was super high so we didn't want the kids close to it. We asked around and found out there was a little pond not to far away so we headed there and the kids got to fish. They caught all kinds of fish. I bought Annalyn a Hello Kitty fishing pole and she was so excited to used it. Grandpa made her kiss a fish and she was happy to oblige. She seemed to pet and make friends with every fish she caught before she threw them back in the water. Brynlee refused to kiss her fish and wouldn't even touch it at first. By the end of the day she was putting the worm on and casting her pole all on her own. Joel said Kyla caught a fish too but I didn't get to see it. I did see her touch some of the fish Annalyn caught. We made tin foil dinners for lunch and had a wonderful afternoon fishing out by that pond.

The kids really wanted to go to the hot springs but it was far away and getting late. They were really bummed they didn't get to go swimming so they begged to swim in the pond. Josh offered to go swimming with them and the front was pretty shallow so we let them play in the water for a little bit. Kyla barely got in the water but the other girls had a blast and did not want to get out. I made them all take a shower as soon as we got back. Then we started to pack up. My girls and Joel watched Avatar on Josh's projector while we got dinner ready and then we had to head back home. Grandma rode in the van with us and spent the first hour of the trip fetching Summer's soothers that she would throw and then cry for. She finally fell asleep and then we had a nice peaceful trip listening to our books on tape. By the time we got home all of the kids were asleep and we carried them gently to bed. It was a fun trip. I am glad we got to enjoy spending a little extra time with Josh before he has to leave.

The view up in the mountains sure was pretty. We really had a great time just walking around and enjoying the beauty that exists on this Earth. What a wonderful world we get to live in. It is always extra nice to be surrounded by family as well.

May 2017

The internet went out in the middle of me doing this post and it didn't save so I am  having to write it again. On the first of May Annalyn and I got to go and tour the school where Anna will go next year. There was a little test they did to see how much she knows and then she got a little goody bag to take home. She was so excited and cried on the way home because she wanted to go to school the next day and has to wait until August. My sister Heather watched the rest of the kids for me and then trimmed up Brynlee's bangs and cut quit a bit off of Annalyn's hair. Her hair was sure getting long but the bottom was mostly really thin baby hair. Now it looks much healthier. The next day I took Annalyn to the doctor for her five year old check-up. She is healthy and growing up so much.

Later that same week we went to our last music class at the library for the year and we ended the week by having Alesha come over and watch the kids so that I could go with Brynlee to her first grade field trip. We went and ate lunch at the park and then we went to the discovery center. I got to ride the bus with her and it was a pretty fun trip for both of us.

On Saturday of that week the girls went to a birthday party and then I took Anna and Brynlee to see one of their friends get baptized. Joel ended up getting sick that night and was too miserable to make it to church with me in the morning. I ended up taking all four girls by myself and they were terrible. Kyla talked loudly and kept getting mad at Annalyn and then they were both fighting on who got to sit on my lap. Luckily a friend came and took Summer for me and watched her almost all of church while I taught my primary class.

My brother Josh had a choir concert I went to. They have an amazing high school choir. I took my kids to JCPenneys and got Annalyn and Summer's picture taken. Brynlee had an Edu fair night at school so I took Brynlee and Anna to that. They got several things to keep them busy over the Summer so they can be ready for school next year.

The next day, Saturday, we went as a family to the Boise Aquarium. The next day was mother's day. Joel surprised me with a new bench swing that he made and hung up on the back porch. It sure is a nice fun way to sit and relax out there on that thing. Brynlee and Annalyn got to sing to me during church. Annalyn really belted out the words that she knew. On the last song I didn't hear her at all until the last phrase of the song which said, "I love you!" She sang that part with all of her heart. I think several people got a good laugh. Brynlee made me several cute poems all about me and she gave me a cookbook from her class. I really got showered with pretty pictures and kind notes that weekend. I loved it. That same Sunday they also found me someone else to help me with my primary class. It will be nice to have help again.

We watched Remi the next day while Heather went on a field trip with Jakobee and later that week she watched my girls while I went into Brynlee's class for a poetry cafƩ. Each of the kids read a poem they had written to all of the parents and they sang some songs. It was a fun day for me. Brynlee also got to celebrate her summer birthday at school that week. We brought in mini cupcakes that we shared with the class.

The next week of May brought graduation for my brother Josh. Graduation was late on a Monday night this year so I left the kids with Joel and went over there with my family. Josh is going to be leaving for basic training in the beginning of June and we will sure miss him. We are pretty proud of his accomplishments and we wish him good luck on the rest of his adventures.

On the 26th of May Brynlee just had a half day of school. We are not going to miss those walks to the bus stop everyday. As soon as she came home we celebrated with a trip to the park and some popsicles. We are so excited to get to sleep in and enjoy some lazy summer days.
The day after school ended Joel and I took the kids to the nature center in Boise. For Memorial day we went to visit Joel's family for several hours and then ended the day with a barbeque at grandma Verna's house. The next day we babysat a little girl from church and we spent the day at the park and we played hard at our house.

The month ended with Joel's dad falling off of the roof while he was working on the house he is building. The ladder came right out from under him. Luckily Joel's brother Josh was there and grandpa is going to be just fine but he ended up riding in an ambulance to the hospital and had to spend the night. He has a bad cut on his hand from a nail they had to stitch up and he has several broken ribs both in the front and the back as well as a broken collarbone. Joel said his face was all scraped up as well. Joel and his brother Jake went to visit him that night and they gave him a blessing. We are grateful that he wasn't hurt worse.

The same day Joel's dad got hurt I went into the eye doctor and got my eyes looked at again. I can't read without my glasses at all anymore without getting a headache and my other glasses are super destroyed. The place I went to this time was super slow. I waited for an hour before they would take me back and then they dilated my eyes so I could barely see anything. I got several texts while I was waiting to see the doctor and I couldn't read them at all. They wrote me a much stronger prescription this time and they encouraged me to use my glasses for watching TV and for driving at night. He told me I was pretty young to need readers but my left eye can see so much better than my right eye so the difference is what is giving me headaches. Now I just need to find time to go get it filled so I will have new glasses.

I spent a lot of time helping grandma to get her garden in. She went to Texas for several days this month so we hurried and put everything in before she left. Then I came and made sure everything was getting watered and doing well while she was gone. I am looking forward to eating some fresh veggies. Brynlee had several friends over and went and played at friends houses a few times. We went to the park with some friends and played several times and we had to make several trips to the grocery store.
Joel's parents had several kittens at their house and Brynlee and Annalyn had a ton of fun holding them. They were both ready to take one of them home with them. Kyla held them a little and Summer sure chased after them and acted like she wanted to hold them but as soon as she was given a chance to actually hold them she would not touch them and she cried when I set one on her lap.
Joel finished the swing set for the kids. He made two more swings. Annalyn learned how to swing on her own and the kids spend hours out there swinging. The swings are pretty squeaky so I can hear them swing while I sit in the house. Joel also fixed the old battery powered four wheeler Brynlee got when she was little and the kids have had so much fun driving that thing around. Joel was going to throw it away at first but decided to try one last thing to fix it. Annalyn was praying out loud that it would work the whole time it was charging.
Joel turned the sprinklers on the grass and the kids had fun running through them and playing in the water. They had several friends over and one day they made a piƱata with their friend, filled it with toys, and took turns trying to knock it down. I was impressed with their creativity and ingenuity.

Little Summer is running all over the place and is one busy little girls lately. She has been throwing little temper tantrums all the time lately. Every time she doesn't get her way she throws herself down to the ground. She loves her soother and doesn't want to go anywhere without it. I have been trying to only let her have it for nap time and she hates that. She is slowing losing her baby look and is turning into a little toddler.

This was a busy month but it was a very fun month.
