Brynlee
"Umm, they are made our of fish."
"What? Fish!? You mean, I like Fish?"
"Mom, where did you get that little scratch on your lip."
"Do you mean the scar I have had since I was three."
"What!? Well how come I never saw it there before?"
After school one day Brynlee and I had this conversation. "Mom, guess what! There was a boy at my school who said the H word. And there was another boy who said the S Word."
I announced how that wasn't good and she said, "Yeah, they said hate and shut-up."
I wish my girls could stay little and innocent forever.
Bynlee had to take these steroids for this bad cough that she had and the medicine was pretty nasty tasting. Brynlee tried to be sneaky and instead of taking the medicine she put it down the sink. She got caught but then refused to take the medicine. It was before school one morning and I was frantically trying to get her to take that medicine but she was having none of it. I finally had to hold her down and I sat on top of her and forced that medicine dropper in her mouth. All of a sudden I looked down and saw lots of blood. In the process of giving her the medicine I ended up knocking out her first tooth. Whoops. Once Brynlee calmed down I still had to force the medicine down her throat but after that she was able to tough it up and she took her medicine like a champ.
Because Brynlee dumped out so much of her medicine we didn't have enough for her to finish the amount of doses she would need. I had to call the doctor and I made Brynlee pay for the medicine. (Luckily the tooth fairy took pity on her and gave her enough money to cover the cost of the medicine and Brynlee even had a whole dollar left to spend.) When we went to go and pick up the medicine the lady handed us the prescription and asked us, "do you have any questions?"
"I do," Brynlee said. "What do you guys put in that stuff?"
The lady offered to get the pharmacist but I assured her there was no need.
"Well, maybe next time," Brynlee continued "you should put some extra sugar, or soda, or maybe ice cream in the medicine. That would taste good."
I was cooking with the girls one day when Annalyn dropped something and called out, "bloody Hands!"
Brynlee and I both looked at her and Brynlee asked, "what did you just say?"
"I said Bloody Hands. You know, like that guy on Harry Potter always says."
This was Brynlee's response. "Oh, you are talking about Ron and he doesn't say Bloody Hands, he says Bloody HAIR."
Yeah, lets just stick with hair.
Annalyn
We were getting out all of Annalyn's long sleeve shirts when she found this pretty red sparkly shirt. She gasped when she saw it, hugged it, and started singing, "My life is a gift..."
The day after Halloween Annalyn apparently snuck a package of nerds into her bed with her. She was laying down and tried to eat some nerds when one of the nerds went right up her nose. She panicked and came out of her bed crying hysterically. I never could find the nerd but since it was mainly sugar I figured it should just dissolve in there eventually. I guess that is what she gets for sneaking candy in her room at night.
My sister in law Heather brought over this beautiful pink decorated cake the other day and shared it with out family. Annalyn got a big huge piece of the cake and took a huge bit and then started crying. Lately she has decided she doesn't like cheese for some reason and she was crying because the cake had cheese in it. It was made with cream cheese frosting and apparently she did not like it. She ran to Heather, cuddled up in her arms and kept asking Heather "why did you put cheese in the cake? Why would you do that?"
I took all of the kids to the mall by myself a few months ago and Brynlee and Annalyn both begged and begged to ride on the escalator. I had Kyla in the stroller and the baby in the baby carrier and decided we could make that work. Bryn jumped on the escalator, I balanced Kyla and the stroller and tried to get Anna to follow but she started crying and refused to get on. I couldn't get off so I sent Brynlee up to go with her. That didn't work so I had to wait for Brynlee to come back down and I made her stay with Kyla and the stroller while I went back up to rescue Annalyn. She was freaked out for the whole ride down. It was her idea to ride the thing in the first place so I did not expect that reaction.
Annalyn was helping me cook one day and we were making soup. We had everything in but the rice which was simmering on the stove. I left to help Kyla in the bathroom and when I came back I found Annalyn adding come uncooked rice to our soup. She was trying to help and I didn't think she added very much so I thought it would be fine but that soup was so crunchy. I tried to fix it the next night by adding some water and simmering the soup and it seriously doubled in size. We had more soup the second night than what we started with. I decided to feed everyone soup again the next day too. Brynlee was not happy about that. I think she got pretty tired of that soup.
I tucked Annalyn into bed the other night and gave her a big hug only to have her tell me, "Mom, I think you should take a shower cause I was smelling you, and you are stinky." Yeah, thanks Annalyn.
Annalyn and Kyla were playing baby one day and at the time Kyla was the mom and Anna was the baby when we started to walk to the bus. Annalyn thought she should be the one that rode in the stroller and when I wouldn't let her she laid down on the side walk, started bawling, and would not walk. Then she pulled out this old binky that I guess she had been playing babies with and she stuck it in her mouth. Several neighbors drove by and got to witness my almost five year old crying on the middle of the side walk with a binky in her mouth.
We watched my brother's baby for a couple hours a few weeks ago. They use cloth diapers on their baby and Annalyn loves them. She was so excited to get to help watch Elowyn and was pretty excited to change her diaper. She kept having me check if Elowyn's diaper was dirty. When It was almost time for Elowyn to go home and she still didn't have a dirty diaper Anna got really mad and started yelling at me to just send Elowyn home and she said several other mean things to me. In the end I let her get out all of the pretty diapers and look at them, she lined them all up in order from her most favorite. She has also been obsessed with Summer's diapers too. I have found several babies, stuffed animals, and I even found Kyla and Annalyn wearing diapers once.
Kyla
We bought new toothpaste for the girls and Kyla's had a picture of Dory on it. Annalyn and Kyla both brushed their teeth right away when we got home and Annalyn came out saying "my toothpaste tasted so good. It tastes like bubble gum!"
"My toothpastes tastes like DORY!" Kyla called out.
Kyla is constantly telling people, "Summer doesn't drink cow's milk, She just drinks breast milk."
Kyla has been pretty mischievous lately. Joel's mom came over one day and we were talking when I realized that Kyla was missing. I found her in the bathroom covering her whole body with soap. Another day I found her spoon feeding the baby something out of a bowl. I asked her what she was doing and she said she was just feeding her baby some food. She had put some toilet paper in a bowl, gotten it wet, and shredded it up so that it looked like mush and she was literally feeding Summer toilet paper. Poor baby. She keeps writing on our walls every chance she can get. The other day I was helping her to clean up some permanent marker that she colored all over our wall when she looked at me and said. "This is hard work, right mom." I agreed that it was and she said, "Yeah, but this is so Fun!" She is seriously just too smart for her own good.
Kyla came into my room early one morning and asked me to help her put on some new panties. I asked her if she had peed the bed and she said, "I don't want to tell you that. I just don't want to talk about that."
My visiting teacher brought me over some treats and I set them in the kitchen. The next thing I know Kyla comes walking out and she is eating one of my cookies. I asked her, "Kyla did you eat one of my treats!"
"No!" She quickly responded while at the same time she hid the food behind her back. I looked at her and then at the food behind her back and then Kyla gave me this sweet and innocent look while she happily stuck another bite of the treat in her mouth and said, "I just lub them!"
My grandma was making pecan pies to get ready for Thanksgiving and My aunt Lora was telling the girls that her daughter Hannah can't eat nuts or she would die. A little while later Hannah came upstairs and Kyla asked her, "Hannah did you die?"
"What?" Hannah asked.
"Did you die when you ate grandma's pie?" Kyla questioned.
Alesha: "Hey Kyla do you want to meet my boyfriend?"
Kyla: "No. I don't like boys."
"Mom! Guess what! I just said Lesha! This was my first time saying Lesha! (Gasp!) Mom, I said Lesha again. I just said Lesha two times."
Kyla used to always refer to Brynlee and Annalyn as "My girls." Joel said something one day to me and he referred to them as his girls and Kyla got mad at him. "Dem is not your girl," he was told.
I was helping Kyla in the bathroom and she told me, "I don't eat poop. Poop is yucky. I just eat food."

We were talking to our neighbor outside a few months ago when she commented to Kyla that she was getting big. "Yeah, I am getting big." Kyla told her. "That's cause I got potty in the potty chair. Yeah, but sometimes my poop doesn't come out."
"Mom, I like wedgies."
"Yeah, but dey are not dat pun (fun)."
I was taking about hotdogs one day when Annalyn came up to me and told me that Kyla had gotten the bag of hotdogs and taken them upstairs. I went up to investigate and she had them in her little play kitchen upstairs. She was pretending to cook them.
Kyla came up to me and excitedly told me, "Mom, I found a jelly bean under the couch! It was so good."
I was brushing Kyla's hair after her bath one day when she encouraged me, "great job brushing my hair mom. You are doing a great job. You are my best mom ever."
A little while later I was trying to tuck Kyla in her bed and she got mad at me and told me, "You are not my best mom anymore. I am going to go to bed without you."
I recently took Kyla with me to a baby shower and when we get home Joel asked her how the baby shower was. "We did not go to a baby shower." Kyla told him. I tried to assure Kyla that we had gone to a baby shower and she again told me that she had not gone to a baby shower.
"Well, what do you mean." I asked. "We just were at a baby shower."
Kyla looked at me all exasperated and said, "Mom, they did not give that baby a shower."
Kyla loves rubbing her belly button and talks about her belly button all the time. She can't stand when I buckle her in her car seat and she has a dress on because then she can't rub her belly. I buckled her in the other day and she cried and cried that the buckle was too tight. I tried to assure her that it had to be like that and we were just going on a short trip but she cried almost the whole way home. We were half way there when she started screaming, "I Can't Touch My Belly Button!" So that was the problem.
I found a sucker on the ground one day and it was all dirty and covered in hair. I set it aside to throw away only to find Annalyn and Kyla in fighting over it. "You two aren't fighting over that hairy sucker," I asked them.
Kyla was quick to respond, "yeah, but I ate all the hair off. It was good. But I don't like to eat hair."
I am so thankful for all of my girls. They sure do make like entertaining. Life is going to get even more interesting when Summer starts talking too. I can't wait.
